What a website really costs in 2026, in pounds

The web address, the hosting, the build and the upkeep, each with a number next to it. No from-prices without a reason.

Every Tuesday, a price tag. This week, the website itself, line by line, because "it depends" is not an answer anyone can budget with.

The web address

  • A .co.uk address, each year £7 to £16, some higher
  • The first-year offer you will see 1p to £2, then the real price at renewal

Comparison pages in late 2025 put the usual renewal between about £7 and £16 a year, with some registrars above £20. The 1p deals are real, but read the renewal price before you buy, because that is the number you pay every year after.

The Google listing

  • Google Business Profile £0

Free. If someone offers to "set up your Google listing" for a monthly fee, ask what else is in the fee, because the listing itself costs nothing.

The build

  • Starter, up to five pages £150
  • Business, up to ten pages, forms, your Google listing set up £350
  • Premium, up to twenty pages, a shop or booking form £750
  • A freelancer, five pages, typical £1,500 to £3,000
  • An agency, typical £3,000 to £5,000

The last two lines come from an industry price guide this year, and they are not wrong. A designer who starts from a blank page and spends three weeks on your site has to charge for three weeks.

Here is why ours is £150 and not £1,500, honestly. Every site we build starts from the same foundation: the same way of laying out prices, hours, a booking button, the words Google reads. We write your pages from a fifteen-minute chat and what is already public about you. That is a week's work, not three, so it costs a week. You get the pages, your own login to change them, and a year of hosting. What you do not get is a bespoke design from scratch, and most small businesses do not need one.

Keeping it running

  • Hosting, year one included
  • Hosting after that £5 a month, or take the files
  • Care, monthly, optional £20
  • Changes without a plan £20 an hour

Hosting is where the site lives so it is there when someone types the address. Care is us keeping it backed up, monitored and changed when you ask, half an hour a month. You can cancel it any time, and the site is still yours.

The lines that are not on this receipt

Photos of your actual shop and work: your phone is fine, and real beats stock every time. Paid ads: our fee is £199 a month for one platform or £299 for both, and the ad budget itself is separate, paid straight to Google or Meta, which we explain on the ads page. Time: about an hour of yours, spread across the week, to tell us what you do and check the draft.

Every one of our own numbers above is on the pricing page, and it is the same price in December as it is today.
